Real heroes: Carrying forward the legacy of Maharishi Sushrut
A few months ago, outside a hospital building, we saw a beautifully detailed, towering statue of a Rishi . Upon closer inspection, it turned out that the statue was of Maharishi Sushrut- a doctor extraordinaire, who is widely recognized as the Father of Surgery and a pioneer of Ayurveda. In his book titled “ Sushrut Samhita ” written around 6 th century BCE, he described various branches of medicine in great detail.
